On a Thursday night in Tampa, Mitt Romney reintroduced himself to the country, pledging to fix the economy and the mistakes of President Obama’s term, delivering a speech in which he ultimately accepted the Republican nomination for president.
The presidential nominee made an effort to close the GOP national convention by letting voters knows a little bit more about Romney the man, not just the former governor and businessman. In the speech he delivered, he included personal stories of his business days, and family.
After letting people get to know about him more, Romney made sure to go back to the topic that has been motivating his campaign, “Obama had not lived up to the lofty promise of his 2008 run.” He then went on and said, “He does not have what it takes to fix this economy.”
Romney then stated that what we need is,” Not complicated or profound; it doesn’t take a special government commission to tell us what America needs. What America needs is jobs.”
He later stated that unlike Obama’s promise to “heal the planet”, his promise is to “…help you and your family,” then ended the speech with this message, “If I am elected President of these United States, I will work with all my energy and soul to restore that America, to lift our eyes to a better future. That future is our destiny. That future is out there. It is waiting for us. Our children deserve it, our nation depends upon it, and the peace and freedom of the world require it. And with your help we will deliver it. Let us begin that future together tonight.”
