Bieber Fans Urged To Cut Themselves On Twitter
January 10, 2013
Roughly 119 million Twitter users were thrown into a whirlwind of shock and horror this week as a trending hashtag went viral urging ‘True Bieber Fans’ to cut themselves in an “attempt to stop his alleged marijuana use.”
On Friday, January 4, 2013, TMZ released photos of Justin Bieber allegedly smoking marijuana inside a Newport Beach hotel room with some of his friends. This photo frenzy spiraled into a surplus of controversy and eventually sparked the hashtag #Cut4Bieber and #Cutting4Bieber trend.
This past week, Twitter accounts that have not yet been confirmed real or a hoax, have started the hash-tag trend urging Justin Bieber’s fans to post pictures of themselves ‘cutting their wrists’ in an attempt to get Bieber to stop his use of marijuana.
Although it is not currently confirmed whether Bieber knows about the incident, Miley Cyrus stepped up and declared her opinion on the newly-found trend when she posted the following tweet earlier this week: “#cut4bieber? Cutting is NOT something to joke about. There are people who are actually suffering from self-harm, this is so disrespectful.”
This controversial matter is making its way around the Web at an alarming speed, and it’s safe to say the madness will not be ending any time soon.
