Cranberry Township is being graced with the opening of a new, state of the art Dick’s Sporting Goods. The new location is in the Cranberry Crossroads, which is along Route 228. The building stands alone in the plaze at two-stories and opened its doors Wednesday, Oct. 17. The grand opening of the store, where the ribbon cutting will take place, will be on Friday, Oct. 19. Dick’s is moving from the space it occupied for years in the Cranberry Square plaza on Route 19.

With the opening of the store, there will be a number of porfessional athlete signings and appearances throughout grand opening weekend. Also, giveaways and meet and greets with area specialist will be held to celebrate the relocation.

There has not been a confirmed occupent for the former location. The Cranberry Township location will be the retailer’s 36th store in Pennsylvania and its 506th store nationwide.

Some celebrities who will be at the store this weekend include Larry Foote, Jamie Dixon, Neil Walker, and the mascot for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Iceberg.

On Friday, Larry Foote will be meeting and greeting customers at the new store from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mystery Gift Card Giveaway will occur that night for the first 100 adults in line. Gift cards ranging from $5 to $500 will be given out.

Saturday Jamie Dixon, the men’s basketball head coach for the University of Pittsburgh, will be making an appearance. He will be at the store from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Pirates second baseman and local native Neil Walker will conclude the week’s signing with an in-store appearance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pittsburgh Penguins mascot Iceberg also will be greeting customers from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday.
