PS4 Revealed to Public
March 26, 2013
On Feburary 20, the PS4 was announced. However not much was actually known about the new video game console until now since the event was more of a showcase for the developer rather than an actual console announcement. More news has surfaced now about the new video game console.
The current release date for the new console is scheduled for Holiday 2013. This means sometime around November.
It is rumored that the GPU for the PS4 will have 50 percent more compute units than the Xbox 720. Sony has announced that the new PS4 runs on a single-chip custom processor and utilizes eight x86-64 AMD Jaguar CPU cores, with a next-gen AMD Radeon based graphics engine powering the way. The PS4 will ship packing 8GB of GDDR5 memory. This essentially means that this new system will have lightning fast performance.
The new controller is the DualShock4 pad. It has about the same design as the DualShock3 controllers for the PS3, however the DualShock4 controller will have a touch pad as well. The touch pad will be located above the analog sticks. A speaker has also been built into the controller adding local audio effects. A headphone socket has been added in as well, which will be used for a headset.
Due to the recent purchase of Gaikai by Sony the PS4 will be capable of cloud gaming. This means that people will be able to share their games online. Most of the games will now be bought online as opposed to being on discs.
The PS4 will be the second in the 8th generation gaming (the first being the Wii U which is available now).
